Dear Bookseller,
THESE DAYS, ONLY WRITERS LIKE MARGARET ATWOOD
RECEIVE AN ADVANCE!.
Things have certainly changed in the publishing business! In today's publishing world an author
can publish direct on to iPad or Kindle and by-pass the traditional publisher, and sorry to say,
the bookseller too. There is much worrying about this in the book world, but truth is, paper
books prevail as the readers choice. I know this because of the continuing popularity of my earlier
books and also, Canada's big book printer is swamped with orders, and I was lucky to get my new
book printed before Christmas.
JOURNEY LOG joins my earlier bestsellers as a tribute to the entrepreneurial spirit of BC's aviation
industry. It is both a biography and a recent history of the coastal flying business. Daryl
Smith created Pacific Coastal Airlines during a period when the climate of flying the coast was
permanently changed by the impact of Jimmy Pattison's AirBC, and the turf war between Air
Canada and Canadian Airlines. Pacific Coastal remained standing when all others were consumed into
all that "Jazz." Journey Log is a good read because the people in it are west coast characters and
the events are definitive and exciting.
By the way, Margaret Atwood notwithstanding, Journey Log is self-published under the name of:
